Vietnam to Host The Little Prince Musical Under the Direction of French Conductor

The musical will be performed in combination with illustrations by French artist Joann Sfar.

The event will begin with a performance by Vietnamese violinist Bui Cong Duy. He will perform Symphony No.1 by composer Tran Manh Hung and the concerto Poème for violin and orchestra, opus 25 by renowned French composer Ernest Chausson.

“The Little Prince”, or “Le Petit Prince”, was written and illustrated by Antoine de Saint Exupéry. It was first published in English and French in the United States back in 1943. This year marks the 80th anniversary since the birth of the story.

“The Little Prince” is the third most-read literary work in the world and has been translated into nearly 250 languages, including Vietnamese.

The musical, jointly organized by Hanoi Opera House, the French Embassy, and the French Institute in Vietnam, aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Vietnam.

Marc-Olivier Dupin, former director of France Musique, began his career at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he won many prizes. He is a renowned symphonic composer, having written operas, music for ballet, film, and theater.

He has held positions at several conservatories and is currently the director of the Ile de France National Orchestra.
