Japan Donates Musical Equipment to Can Tho City in Vietnam

The Japanese Government’s non-refundable aid programme for culture at the local level aims to meet the diverse needs of developing countries, with a focus on fields such as health, culture, education, bridge construction, and environmental protection.

The Can Tho College of Culture and Arts has received a total funding of US$88,274 to purchase 137 new musical instruments, including acoustic piano, electric piano, organ, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and flutes. These instruments will be used to teach students at high schools and junior high schools, and will also be utilized in the Vietnam – Japan Cultural Exchange Program in Can Tho to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Nguyen Doi Hien, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho city People’s Committee, expressed hope that the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will connect diverse programs to contribute to social security and improve the quality of life for the people of Can Tho. This will also help strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and Japan.

Shiraishi Hideyuki, Head of Culture and Education Department at the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the Can Tho College of Culture and Arts will use the new musical instruments to enhance teaching activities and promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Japan.

Hanoi sees light traffic congestion on the first working day after Tet

Vehicles can easily move on usually-busy two-way streets. Compared to normal days, the traffic moving towards the capital’s gateways is heavy, although there is no signs of severe congestion. A long line of vehicles waits at a green light on Nguyen Trai street. A traffic police officer arrives early on Trieu Khuc street in order to guide the flow of traffic. Da Nang and Yokohama Increase Collaboration in Environmental Preservation

A training course on solid waste management was held in Yokohama, Japan on September 4th. The course was attended by representatives from local units and authorities in Da Nang, who are implementing waste sorting and 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) programs. This initiative is part of a project sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implemented in collaboration with the Japanese Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). The successful first stage of the project took place five years ago, with the support of these organizations, resulting in the implementation of waste sorting models in the community of Hai Chau and Thanh Khe districts.
