Overseas Vietnamese in Mozambique Remember Their Roots

The day April 30 will forever be a glorious milestone in the history of Vietnam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Pham Hoang Kim said at a recent ceremony marking the liberation of the south and national reunification (April 30), International May Day (May 1) and Hung Kings’ death anniversary (March 10) in the capital city of Maputo, VNA reported.
In his speech, Kim highlighted the significance of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification day on April 30, saying that this day is a source of pride for not only the Vietnamese people but also all nations struggling for independence and freedom around the world, including many countries in Africa.
The ambassador affirmed that the spirit of April 30 victory lives on in the heart of every Vietnamese, inspiring them to move forward on the path of renovation and national construction and defence.

According to The World and Vietnam Report, on the occasion of International May Day, he praised the hardworking spirit of Vietnamese health and education experts, students as well as the Vietnamese community in Mozambique, who have been contributing to strengthening the fine relationship between Vietnam and Mozambique.
The Vietnamese Party and State always consider the overseas Vietnamese community an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc and wish that they would stay united, settle down lives in the host society and further thrive, he said.
On the occasion, the embassy introduced traditional Vietnamese cuisine to the guests and held music performances with the active participation of officials and employees of the Embassy, Movitel Company, businesses, the Vietnamese community and local friends, together remembering the homeland, looking to the roots on the occasion of the death anniversary of Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the nation.
Attending the ceremony were a large number of people from the local Vietnamese community, the Board of Directors, officers and employees of Movitel Company (Viettel Group), businesses, medical and educational experts, and Vietnamese students studying in Mozambique and local friends.
The Republic of Mozambique is located in Southeast Africa. Vietnam and Mozambique have traditional friendship relations, support each other in the struggle for independence and the cause of economic construction and development in each country. The two sides set up their inter-government committee in May 2008 and conducted regular exchanges of their Party and State delegations. |
